As dentists we want to raise awareness of the rise in oral cancer in the UK. According to research by the Oral Health Organisation there has been a 97% rise in cases over the last 20 years. Routine dental examinations play an important part in the early detection of oral cancer. The dentist will examine your whole mouth, checking your lips, cheeks, tongue, palate and throat to make sure that there are no changes in the tissue that which could indicate the onset of oral cancer.
